Why is this page here?
Because no matter who you are, how hard you work to raise your
kids right, they can fall into influences beyond your control.
For a long time we thought this couldn't happen in our family
but then it did. We had a wonderful son that was working hard
and going to school at the same time. When he found himself
in the proverbial wrong crowd, he fell into a life he never
dreamed of.
When we discovered
that our 19 year old son was addicted to methamphetamine, our
hearts were broken. He promised many times to quit but it never
seemed to last. Our once outgoing and friendly son was now
hyperactive and mean spirited. He had also lost a great deal
of weight and was beginning to look very gaunt.
I spent a great deal of time in prayer seeking his deliverance
while avoiding the ultimate prayer that a parent never wants
to pray. Eventually I saw that nothing including those prayers
were changing his life. I finally prayed the ultimate prayer,
"Father do whatever is necessary to save my son." Just the
thought of that prayer brought grief to me as I new that Jesus
would answer that prayer but I was unsure how difficult it
would be for my son. A father never wants to see any of his
children go through too much pain.
That prayer was soon answered as the police showed up at our
door one evening with a warrant for our son. He had been stopped
previously after a minor car accident and the police found
"meth" in his car. He was high on "meth" at the time of his
arrest which made him a little cocky about his situation. He
"knew" that his "friends" would bail him out. The only thing
those friends did for him was to steal his cell phone to make
sure the police didn't get the phone numbers he had stored
in it.
He was charged with felony accounts of drug posession and
placed in the county jail. The first few days he pleaded with
us to bail him out but that really wasn't something that we
wanted to do. We really felt it would be best for him to see
where this life was leading him. All this time we continued
to pray for him and asked God to renew his commitment to the
Lord. My wife and I were praying strong prayers of protection
and tearing down the strongholds in his life. We stood on the
belief that we were not going to allow Satan to steal one of
our children.
He started going to a bible study in jail and re-committed
his life to Jesus. All in all he was in jail for about a month.
Everytime we visited hime he looked happier. He knew that his
life was changing. We didn't use any expensive lawyers, only
a public defender that really believed he had changed. The
prosecutor wanted our son to go to jail but God had other plans.
instead of 6 years in jail for felony meth possession, he was
given 3 years probation.
We moved from the city where this all had occurred to a home
in the country and our son came with us. He pretty much stayed
out in seclusion with us for months. God brought him through
a lot and now a year and a half later he has a great job and
a great life. He is serving God, working, going to school and
best of all, free of meth.
There is hope for meth addicts. If you read most of the information
on the internet you will become quite distressed over the chances
of freedom from this addiction. This is to let you know that
people can be set free from meth with Jesus. Our future plans
are to develop a ranch in the foothills of Colorado where we
can help others be set free from this addiction.
